Accessibility Colonial Addition — Morris Plains, NJ

Location

Morris Plains, NJ

Description

The first floor of the existing house was reconfigured to be accessible for the client’s teenage daughter. A front portico and deck are provided to align with the existing first floor for wheelchair access. A bedroom was converted to an accessible bathroom on the first floor rather than construct an addition to save on costs. The kitchen was opened to the family room and extended for easy wheelchair access. A panel system was included on the exterior of the house to inspire the client and help the transition to the existing siding that is to be removed at a later phase.
