Craftsman Stucco Addition — Bloomfield, NJ

Location

Bloomfield, NJ

Description

The completed project in 2025 involved a one-story stucco addition to a 1915 Craftsman-style home in Bloomfield, NJ, created specifically to accommodate the needs of an injured veteran for first floor living. The design honors the historic character of the original structure while providing fully accessible, modern living spaces.

The primary goal was to respect the home’s early 20th-century architectural language while introducing updates that would make daily life more functional and accessible. The addition features period-appropriate stucco finishes, overhanging eaves, diamond window patterns, and window trims that harmonize with the existing Craftsman details.

The project successfully bridges past and present—preserving the spirit of the original Craftsman home while enabling inclusive, single-level living for the owner. The result is a space that is both dignified and highly functional, where accessibility and architectural integrity coexist.
